Top Dog Names Inspired by “Creed III”

“Creed III” is one of the biggest movies out right now.

Starring and directed by Michael B. Jordan, “Creed III” sees the “Black Panther” star reprise his role as boxer Adonis Creed, and in just a couple of days the movie has grossed over $101 million worldwide.

The sequel to “Creed” and “Creed II”, and the ninth film in the “Rocky” series, “Creed III” features a whole host of well-known actors playing a range of characters. And whether your pup is a Boxer or not, perhaps you can find some name inspiration from the characters here?

  • Creed – Where else would we start than with the titular character? Creed is an English name that’s more common as a last name, like it is here, but that doesn’t mean you can’t give it to your pup. As a forename, it means “accepted doctrine”.
  • Adonis – This is a Greek name meaning “pleasing lord”. And, of course, in Greek mythology Adonis was a mortal lover of the goddess Aphrodite, as well as Persephone, the daughter of Zeus.
  • Damian – Damian comes from Damianus, which itself comes from the Greek name Damianos, and means to tame or subdue. Saint Damian is the patron saint of physicians.
  • Diamond – It’s often said that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but it makes a great dog name too! One of the most precious gems out there, it needs no introduction.
  • Duke – Duke is an English name, and of course a title of nobility. It can be a last name, too – perhaps one of the most famous figures with the name was actress Patty Duke.
  • Viktor – Viktor is most common in Slavic countries, with Russian origin, and is the equivalent of Victor, a name often seen in the West. Victor is of Latin origin, and means winner or conqueror. Is your pup a real champion?
  • Felix –  We might associate this name more with cats, but Felix certainly works for dogs too! Of Latin origin, it means happy and prosperous, and Felix was the Roman governor of Judea in the Bible.
